Tribal Administration

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Tribal Administration provides managerial oversight for the functions of day-to-day Executive Branch business. The structure of the administration within the Executive Branch has changed.  The Executive Team restructured the programming of the Executive Branch of the government into two divisions: Direct Services and Indirect Services.  The Tribal Administrator position was dissolved and the duties and responsibilities of the TA were distributed to the Vice-Chair and a new position, the Direct Services Administrator (DSA).  The Vice-Chair has direct oversight over the indirect services programming and the Direct Services Administrator has direct oversight over the direct services programming.

The Executive Branch consists of 19 program/departments designed to provide services to the LTBB citizens. The Governmental Departments/Programs are divided into:

  • Direct Services – Administration, Commerce, Education, Elders, Enrollment, Gijigowi Language, Health, Housing, Human Services, Natural Resources, Law Enforcement, SEEDS, and Youth Services.
  • Indirect Services – Accounting, Communications, Facilities, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Grants, Human Resources, Management Information Systems (MIS), Planning, and Repatriation and Archives.
  • The Vice-Chair and the Direct Services Administrator work together with the management/leadership team to insure critical goals and objectives are being met, provide support to the Tribal Chairperson and Executive Team, deliver resources to those requiring assistance, overall accountability of Department implementation, offer guidance to directors/program managers to insure success, and create a safe working environment for governmental staff and visitors.
